I have sensitive skin and allergy issues to begin with, but at times do get rashes and itchy skin after having hands/arms in the tank. Doesn’t happen every time though.
I think it is something with the tank because I’ve had no reaction in a saltwater pool (low salinity), the Atlantic and Gulf of Mexico.
Doesn’t last long.

My fingers burn after messing with saltwater for a while. But I think it's just a combination of the salt and scrubbing my hands with plain water to get soap/residue off before hand.

Yep. I think I'm allergic to water.....

But in all seriousness I have some form of dermatitis so even a 30 second dip in a tank will make it burn and itch. Now I just make my husband do anything with arms in the tank. The freshwater tanks also irritate me, but regular old tap water seems to be less bothersome.

Yes.

My suspicion is its actually molds growing around the tank...not the water.

No not to the tank water or anything in the tank.

Bristleworms dont like it when I rearrange my rock. Those are very swollen and itchy moments.

Im allergic to bristleworm stings, not enough to go into anaphylactic shock or anything but hand gets swollen 2-3x normal size, turns purple, and it hurts for weeks :(

Well saltwater= dry itchy skin sooooo um yea... rinse hands and arms in freshwater and use lotion afterwards, problem solved!
