Iv been dosing all for reef for almost 2 years now, recently switching to powder. However. I noticed my alk been dropping to below 8. 7.8 i usually keep my alk at 8.7. So i raised my alk to 8.7 and then increase my afr dose from 62ml to 70ml. My tank is 150G total water volume. My lights comes on at 12:00 pm and turn off 9:00pm. I tested my alk with hanna at 6:00 am. And i noticed my alk is at 8.3. Why its not holding the 8.5-8.7 range?

My alk keep trendint downwards. Iv been raising my afr for the past couple of weeks. And i cant seem to find a number. Went from 55 to 62 to 70ml now for my 150G. Its a mixed reef

I dose every 24 hours so its around 3ml/hour

Is your calcium decreasing too?

If not and its building upwards, it may be a lack of nutrients.
A4R is based on Calcium Formate and it's alkalinity release depends on bacterial processing, lack of nutrients may slow down this process.

Calibrate and check your doser. This exact thing happened to me. Or try manually dosing for awhile and see if anything changes.

Also, how are you spacing the dosing intervals? The only way I could keep my ALK consistent was to have my DOS dose over the whole 24hr period. If your dosing once, or only a couple times during the day you will let a swing.

I dose 3ml every hours 24 hours like i mentioned

Sorry, I missed that in the later post.
Any changes in other nutrients or new corals added? Otherwise a consumption increase like mentioned above.

Dosing more is the simple answer. There may be different reasons why alk is declining, but all are solved by dosing more AFR.

I raised from 62ml to 70ml. And im still dropping from 3/17 i was at 7.8 raised my alk to 8.7 and then raised afr to 70ml and still dropping thats kinda insane? Is that even normal to dose everyday that much?
