Hello,
I was viewing some of Marvins pics tonight and couldn't help but notice how crystal clear his water is. My water always has little particles floating around in it.
Here is my setup:
40 gal breeder tank.
20 gal long sump
I installed a piece of glass in the back of the tank to act as an overflow. I drilled and installed 2- 3/4" bulkheads to drain the tank to the sump through vinyl tubing. The sump is divided into 3 chambers:
1. The first chamber is where the water enters and is about half full of live rock.
2. That overflows into the second chamber which is the refugium. It has about 3" sand bed, A decent sized clump of Chaeto, 3 Mangroves and a couple of snails and hermits.
3. That overflows to the third chamber which houses the return pump.
I dont' have a skimmer yet. Would a skimmer take these particles out of the water, or do I need some other type of filter or pre-filter material?
Thanks in advance for help,
Steve
