Hey friends ❤️ Finally pulled the trigger and made a “dream” purchase. It’s not an expensive addition, just one I was a bit nervous about so it doesn’t disrupt the balance in the tank. But I could not be happier to have this guy!

Torch mountain will be finished up next week too! I got the last torch I needed. The tank is looking so good these days too. I’m excited to watch things grow in and grow up.
Oh I love the newest addition!

Haha you all have encouraged me to maintain the tank, and given me solid advice during the highs/lows of my reefing journey. I definitely consider those to be friends!
He’s good at that, good friends to have ;Smuggrin Your tank is coming along nicely!!

Hey everyone! Finally bought a tripod to get good clips of the tank. Here’s a video update on things:

After a bit over a year, I’m finally seeing coralline take over the rock work and it’s a beautiful deep violet just as I’d hoped. I can’t wait for all of the rocks to get completely covered up!

I noticed the fish breathing heavy a few days ago and got nervous so I started adding selcon to the brine shrimp, put the UV light back in there, and added some poly lab reef medic — everyone’s looking good.

Torch mountain is done! There is a little spot on the rock work in case I want to add an additional torch in the future though lol always gotta have some space.

Coral-wise I’m about done for the tank. I’m thinking of adding some scolys in front of the RFA rock but my female clown wouldn’t have it, so I may hold off until she decides to host elsewhere. I also like the look of a nice, blank sand bed so who knows. That style may not be “in” nowadays but I love the simple look. :) I’m very excited because my zoas are finally getting adjusted and are growing in nicely. I’ve got a torch or two that are splitting as well. All in all, everything looks good and is happy/healthy. I can’t wait until the zoas completely cover the rock.

Also, major thanks for all the love for my snowflake eel!! We used to own a snake, but got rid of it and having an eel has filled the void in my heart lol I’ll have to post a video of feeding time for you all. Id wish he’d let me pet him, but he’s very curious as to what fingers are so maybe in the future. I have heard of some that get aggressive as they gets older so we’ll see. Just a matter of being careful. I have shared clips with my coworkers/friends and it’s been a really great opportunity to educate others on eels.

In other news, my melanarus wrasse has finally began the transition to male! & she/he is still as beautiful as ever.

Just sharing a photo of this guy to add to the build thread. I got him at Petco for $30. He’s swims by me whenever I walk up or sit by the tank & isn’t scared of my hands. I haven’t named any of the fish. But I’m considering naming him Yuki, it means snow in Japanese.

Amalee

did tap water rinsing harm your tank irretrievably

or was it ironically a big non factor, in the grand scheme

I bet this tank is looking sharp nowadays. Hope all is well.

What a roller coaster of a start, good to see you stayed in the game. I do not have much experience myself, but I feel like using all those cures in a bottle hurt things for you. I recently added a carbon reactor and it seems to have been a big help. Tank looks great, I love torch mountain.
