Was going through some old photos, and stumbled on some from a visit to the 'Meereszentrum Fehmarn', in germany, back in 2002. I was just a kid then and thought this tank was so cool! 2024-me however, would have been horrified!!!

Hair algae, giganormous aiptasia! caulerpa! And I can swear there are some patches of cyano going on there too! I didn't get into the hobby until 05, so back in 02 this looked like a tank in good condition to me! :rolling-on-the-floor-laughing:

That is nearly every public aquarium stony reef tank for me. I look at them and think... my reef looks better than this. Then, I realize that I probably cannot do much better with the same variables that they have. They could probably crush it too if they only had one tank with a max depth of 30 inches - the only tank with acropora in Denver has to be 10-12 feet deep which is really hard to get light down that far.

I still love the coldwater and large fish tanks - turtles get me every time.
