Amino acids?

can someone give me the lowdown on adding amino acids?
what are they? what does it do? what is the best product? how much do you add? and do you personally use it?
i will be doing some research also but just wanted to get some opinions on this from everyone...

Hi Amanda... I've always had good results from Reef Plus Amino Acids.... :)

I on the other hand am not a big fan of dosing any amino acids. But with recent ideas I seem to be a minority. If you decide to dose some just cut the recommended dose in half and watch the tank for adverse reactions.

You guys will like this one...... I use human vitamins for my reef. Including Vitamin , Potassium and Amino Acids. They are MUCH cheaper at Wal-Mart than adding Kent products. I just put them in the filter sock and let them disolve.

I would tend to agree with Dihydrogen Monoxide. Amino acids supplements don't seem to do much in a well fed reef like mine. :)
