Andreas' Ultimate Nano - 15 Gallon aio

when I first heard about the HelloReef 15 gallon kit, I was pretty keen on buying it. It was one of the first true "All in ones" I had ever heard of. Every all in one on the market doesn't typically come with everything you need. They don't usually come with heaters or wavemakers, let alone things like salt mix, a refractometer, or rock and sand. when I learned that the helloreef nano had all of these and more, I went online and there it was. It was also surprisingly cost effective.

I thought it would be good to compliment my biocube 30. I am, admitadley, a nano guy, since i also had a fluval 13.5 in the past. I ended up picking up the fluval flex 15 gallon stand to put it on, I like it, it looks nice and contemporary.

Anyway, I took the caribsea liferock that was provided and started putting something together. i was stuck between 2 designs and ended up picking the latter.

Anyway, I got the tank running smoothly. it surprisingly comes with extra of every type of filter media which is a pleasant surprise. Anyway, here's the tank setup.

My plans with this tank is to see what I can do with it, mostly. I defenitley see a lot of corals and anemone down the line, some more fancy inverts. For fish, I'm really not completely sure what I want. I was thinking purple firefish and 2 clowns, but we'll def have to see. Maybe a helfrichi, who knows. Anyway, I'll keep you guys updated. Thank you! to be honest, I'm also tempted by this baby yellowhead jawfish that my friend is holding on to. i think that would be a good addition.

I love jawfish just don’t like the mess they make with the sand and gravel.
I prefer a Yasha goby and shrimp far less mess.
Not as cool as a jawfish though.

I have a soft spot in my heart for shrimpgobies (as you may be able to tell by my profile pic). A ywg was my first ever fish. it's about 6 or 7 years old now. Yashas are amazing, a buddy of mine has one in a pico.

Those fish are really cool but it looks like live aquaria recommends a 5-7" inch sandbed for them? Does anyone have any experience with this?

when they are juveniles, less sand will usually suffice for at least the first 6 months - a year of life but then as they reach adulthood, I would say as much sand as body length or more, so around 4-7 inches.

*note - I've started this tank with 50% already established aquarium water from a 6ish year old tank.

rough stocking plan for animals that aren't coral:

Fish:

baby yellowhead jawfish
purple firefish
1 or 2 regular clowns later down the line.

inverts:

skunk cleaner shrimp
various algae eating snails (trochus, astrea, cerith)
Blue legged/scarlet hermits

pom pom crab
sexy shrimp
(I don't know how well these will do with the jawfish long term since they may be eaten, advice needed?)

First addition in the tank! A yellow head jawfish. Sorry for the awful picture, he’s very skittish and hard to get. Picture of. I will snap a better picture when he gets more confident!
