I've got a bubble tip anemone that's been in my tank for about 3 weeks now. It's had a hard time finding a home, and recently I found that it's foot looked black. Upon further investigation, it looks like it's attached to a hermit crab shell. Is this normal? Is there anything I can do to change the situation? The anemones healthy, eats every other week. I just don't know how to get to attached to a rock. Any advice you can give would be greatly appreciated.

It’s the foot of the anemone and it will grab onto rock, sand , shell and even glass

I'd grab the shell with a tweezers and use a plastic pipette to gently free it from the foot.

If it refuses to attach to anything because it's gripping the small shell, then I'd try to remove it personally. Or you could just let it be and see if it moves on it's own.

I'd let it be. Anemones have a mind of their own. I used to have one that only wanted to face the back of the tank. I would turn it's rock 180 degrees every morning and by the end of the day, it was on the other side. We did this little dance for about a month until he got dizzy and stopped moving.
