Anemone color and shape changes due to environment

For those anemone experienced and experts on here. I'm wondering if anemones can drastically change their colors and patterns over time due to lighting changes and or feeding?

Mine has some good color already but not a lot of defined striation in the tentacles like some of the more intense ones you can see at stores and online. Hoping it can really light up with some consistency and quality lighting. Is it unheard of for a nem to go from predominantly pale green and red to vibrant colors, even changing colors over time? If so, what's your experience for time frame of major changes?


Also wondering similar about the tentacles going from stringy to bubbles and everywhere between. I know there isn't a real clear
picture of what causes it, just wondering what people's experiences are for behavior.. Timelines of changes etc.?

The difference is often traceable to the light source over the animal, along with filters and cameras, or eyes that are looking at the subject.

I don’t know how many times I have seen a coral in person that hardly looks like what it was when I put it under my MH light source at home.

About the bubble tips my theory is that clown fish have an effect on the tentacles. I bought my first nem 6 years ago for my clowns and it was a bubble tip with beutiful bubbly tentacles. My clowns ignored that nem for 6 months and during that time the tentacles flattened, about a week after my clown fish started hosting it the bubble tentacles came back again, im not 100% its because of the clowns or not but thats what i think.

Yes, clownfish interactions can change the hosts behavior. My fastest growing plate corals were home to a clownfish that tended it and seemed to result in explosive growth by the coral, with similar results seen in some anemone interactions. No scientific evidence, just casual observation.

I currently have a Chicago sunburst and when I first got it , the anemone had a deep red color to it. Nowadays it looks pink with bright yellow tips and of course some green stripes running down the tentacles. It all goes back to the light you use and the spectrum, and the tentacles it self. I noticed when there’s not much flow it’ll start get its bulbs but when the flow comes back on it becomes stringy and long.

Yeah, i belive they also help with stopping the rapid splitting so it happens more slowly, my nem split maybe max twice a year but i hear people have their nems split into nothing but i guess that is cause by stress factors as Well which i belive clown fish help reduce by as you Said tending to their home
