What is the best sand option that will;
A) not move with high flow. Shallow tank 21”
B) Still be fine enough for my sand sifting goby or other bottom dwellers.
C) Be suitable for my Melanarus wrasse to burrow.

I’ve gone through the R2R archives but it’s like finding a needle in a haystack. I’m building a new setup and I’m not using the carib sea direct original this time. It looks great, just moves around way too much with higher flow.

Cheers

I used Carib Sea Live Arag sand and never had issues with it blowing around. In my pico, I use Tampa Bay Live Rock's Live sand.

TBS Live Sand via air cargo
TBS Live Sand via UPS

Heya, you might consider TBS Live Sand.
It won't blow around high flow tanks and is perfect for sand burrowers / dwellers.
Rock on.

Sand is $6 per pound, plus shipping.

By the time I convert to CAD and shipping…. It’s expensive.
You don't need to replace your sand entirely with that. If you mixed it in, the larger aggregate would settle down the finer stuff quite a bit. And honestly, after some time the sand no longer does this.

I mixed in some keys live sand with my caribsea sand and it eventually stopped blowing around.
If you have a diamond goby or something, sand is going to move around anyway. Mine digs huge trenches in the back of my tank.

I have started with dry and live sand. Honestly zero difference other than price. IME

And if I was going to go live, I wouldn’t be shipping it up to the west coast of Canada from Florida. I’d just buy it locally…..
