180g display tank:

Currently has 3 yellow tanks, a blue hippo tang, and a desjardini tang, among other fish, but those are the important ones for the question.

I have an opp to buy a purple tang, which I've always wanted. He's gotta be 3-4 years old, and honestly if he's not the same size as the desjardini, he has to be bigger.... They are very close in size, but I think he's bigger.

He's in a tank with corals and one other fish now, and shows no aggression....

Is it worth the risk?

The other option I'm thinking is to ge a biota purple "baby".

I think I know the answer.... But asking anway. Thanks!

My purple that I've had for 8+ years is pretty mellow. It's in with 4 yellows, naso, convict, vlamingii and a recently added hippo.

PS My tank thread has a recent tank video from a couple of days ago. The video shows how the fish act pretty much all the time.

Just a thought. If it were me, I would feel better putting the large Purple tang in with the desjardini than the little one. I would give it a try.

Do it. I have a Desjardini sailfin and purple tang together in a 180. They get along just fine
