I have no idea what this could be. Any ideas? It looks out of focus and it may be a little, but the tips appear as fuzzy little pom-poms in real life.

It doesn't get too much better, but I took a shot:

Above, I can see some texture on the lowest stalk here. Sponge?
Below is a slightly different angle showing another stalk, hidden in the other pics:

I left some 'shroom visible for scale.

Tough to say for sure from the pics, but I would think a stalked colonial tunicate of some kind (like a Sycozoa species or similar, which are the most similar of the ones I know offhand at the moment). The pom-poms should be a bunch of little "holes" clustered together if my guess is correct.

I'll see what I can do tomorrow, as lights are out now. It's in a difficult location for my substanard phone cam, though. I'll get out a tripod, turn up the whites and do my best!
