So I'm in a bit of a tough spot. We bought some anthelia (it was sold as xenia) and it was great for awhile until some angelfish we got shredded it and absolutely spread it throughout our tank. Now I'm stuck, I've tried everything to remove it. It just keeps coming back, it strips all the nutrients out of the tank and killed several if my colonies. At this point it looks like possibly using the nuclear method and dosing Fenbendazole or just restarting. Anyone have any tips? I have several mushrooms and 2 large bta's I'll need to set up a quarantine tank for of i go nuclear on this stuff.

Personally I would prepare to do a full rock swap, IMO no need for dog deworming chemicals and no need to start over, a rock swap will give the tank new life.

I've been considering it. I had 2 concerns. My first was missing some anthelia somewhere on the sand and having this happen all over again. Second was crashing my tank because I switched out all that rock. I suppose it'll all need cycled first

If you buy live rock no need to cycle it!

Are you sure you lost your colonies to anthelia? I have a small anthelia colony and it only thrives in the shadows. I even nearly lost it die to too much light. If yours is spreading like crazy, maybe you don't have enough PAR, and that's what's killing your other corals?

I hadn't considered that. Honestly it's thriving. Before it got out of hand I had a birds nest and digitata colony that were doing great. Maybe the 2 aren't related

You can give it a try and blast it with light.
I have it growing in the corners and the bottom of rocks where there are swim-thrus. I had not considererd blasting with light. I was looking at a manjo wand.
