Anthias species for a 75g

Is it possible to add any anthers species to a 75? Id like to get either 2-3 lyretail or dispar. Has anyone had success with them? If so what species and what should I know about their feeding requirements

Either is fine. Go with 3. Less chance of aggression.

I can confirm that at least a singular lyretail works just fine in a 75g, I've had mine for 4-5 years now.

The biggest issue with keeping them is just ensuring that you have a steady supply of food for them, an autofeeder is a godsend here. I have my Plank set to dispense every half hour for three hours in the evening, so six total feedings a day. You don't need to go that far, though I will say that the Plank is probably the single best equipment purchase I've ever made.

The Plank. It's expensive, but worth it IMO. If a $200 feeder isn't in the budget, Eheim makes one that is also very respectable, though it's not as cheap as it used to be... when I picked up one of those it was only about $30, currently selling for about double that. I'm sure there are other worthwhile feeders out there, but those are the only two I have positive thing to say about.

As far as food goes - I feed a mixture of pellets and freeze-dried foods. In practice it's very similar to Avast's Reef Jerky, and if you don't want to mix it up yourself the Reef Jerky would be fine to use. My blend uses (freeze-dried unless otherwise stated):

• Mysis Shrimp
• BRS Copepod powder
• BRS Calanus
• BRS Rotifers
• Benepets Benereef
• TDO Chromaboost Pellets
• BRS Golden Pearls

If you don't use the Plank, I'd recommend just using TDO pellets or something similar with the Eheim unit. The mixing chamber on the Plank is the real selling point on it, it's what lets you use freeze-dried foods without watching 90% of it go down the overflow.

Dispar or ignitus for that tank size. Lyretails get too big and need room for swimming. Buy Anthias in odd numbers 3,5,7,9, etc. I have 3 ignitus and 4 dispar in my tank (60 breeder) from Dr Reef. I would definitely order Anthias from him (he will recommend dispars as he has a good source for them) as they’re prone to uronema. Not worth the risk when he offers healthy fish already QT’ed.
