Former hydraulics maintenance tech - Eastern Airlines

Retired Navy Airdale. Mostly fighter and attack aircraft. Since I've retired, I've been pursuing other interests, but I do have quite a bit of memorabilia around the house.

Just curious if anyone is huge into aviation? I fly on C130s in the Air Force Reserves and my other career involves airplanes as well. Just curious what people’s favorite planes are and if you guys like memorabilia? I recently got my hands on these!

Well, since you mentioned the Herc.... 30 years retired AF & ANG mix. I'm not going to lie I'm biased towards F-15's since that was my first plane. 462x0 back then. Moved on RF4C's, then later C-130's. TDY I got to help on other air frames when needed. Ended last 10 or so years in Ground and later Explosive Safety. So always around aircraft.

I do not fly although I've always wanted to learn to fly helicopters for some reason. No idea why but at this stage in life that probably won't be checked off. I do like aircraft and aviation in general. Sort of cool what humans can do when we work collectively together, yeah?

Nice lamp btw. I dig it.

Scuba diving :) A hobby I really enjoy - love our colder Northern California waters. Everything else is like diving in bath water :D

Love airplanes, especially fighters. My cousin is an FA-18 pilot in the Navy and thanks to him I was able to try out one of their training simulators. Super cool! I’d probably say my current favorite is the F-35. Stealth, vertical take off and landing, makes me dang proud to be an American!

As for diving, I love it too. I just don’t get to do it often thanks to family and kid activities. I’ve dove most of the west coast from Catalina to Fort Bragg, even a couple lakes like Folsom and Tahoe. I prefer warm water and tropical reef diving though!

Nice taxiway marker light.
Spent 25 yrs in USAF. Went from a Crew Chief to Pro Super. F-111A, EF-111, F-111F, F-117A, F-16, A, B, C, D Blocks 15-52. Did airshow circuit for 2 years too. I also worked in Civilian sector for a little.

For sure the C130 as a crew plane puts that in perspective and I love it for making that collective bond.
helicopters always make me uneasy but they’re neat.
And the lamp, I got a bunch of these at the airport I work at I’ve just been refinishing them and rewriting them into house lamps. Sold some here and there.

Had I not accepted my current role, I would most definitely be back in that industry. I have such a wanderlust & sleep oh so well on planes. :)
I’ve literally fallen asleep on the initial taxi out on the C130 and miss my call on checklists lol

I’d have to say the F22 Raptor besides the vertical takeoff. And the cooler name may be a more ****** plane ✈️

LOL! Gosh, I start getting sleepy as soon as they close the cabin doors(s). I seldom make it 5 minutes past takeoff. When flying out of MCO, I am 100% of the time asleep before we get done taxiing because this airport is a literal nightmare.

I’m actually trying to work at MCO and or TPA.
I do the whole ATC thing.

@Cwentz758 Godspeed. TPA is so much easier to navigate, but MCO definitely is super nice, in my opinion. Are you going to do ground ops or flight crew?

I’m an air traffic controller so I’d be in the tower
