Hi all,

Does anyone know exactly what this algae is? The tank is 11 months old, I own a 4 stage RODI system & only use water from it. A very very small amount of tap water gets into the tank from filter cleaning once a week, not more than a few small drops. It grows daily starting around 3 hours after my light cycle starts & my cuc cleans it after the lights go out, the sand is pristine before the light comes on. It’s been an issue ever since the tank finished cycling. I’ve been thinking it’s diatoms? Included parameters are very consistent & don’t really change from month to month. Possibly something to do with the phosphate level? Any ideas are appreciated.

Looks like diatoms. That’s not a bad thing.

I perused your threads and noted that you operate several tanks. Would you better describe the tank in question and provide a full tank shot with white light.

The tank is a lifegard 25 gallon aio, using an ai prime with 50-180 par throughout the tank. This picture if from around 6 months ago before I had any corals in the tank
