A friend back home in FL sent me this picture this morning. She said these were all over the beach yesterday and ways to know if I knew what it is. I have no idea. Any ideas?

Yep! They do have nematocysts, but their sting is relatively mild.

I've never even heard of them. I grew up in FL and have seen quite a few things washed up on the beach including different kinds of jellyfish but I've never seen these before. I wonder why a bunch of them suddenly washed on shore.
