Cool project. I had an old garden plow, My wife was not having it :confused: so it got passed on
I would look for some barn wood or Iron oxide :confused: the new wood. You tube ofcourse

Here it is done. Wife actually did the finish so she wouldn't yell at me....wanted that old, peeling paint look. I would have been happy simply painting it one solid color.

I've been gearing up for spring.
Made some new planters for my bee balm.
These are 86" x 30" x 20" each.
I know it's not furniture, but I like making stuff for the yard.

Made a flag case for my grandfathers funeral flag (died many years ago). Used Zebrano and made a set of coasters out of the scraps and made a holder out of walnut. Finish is 3 coats of Arm-R-Seal satin.

Figured I would bring this post back to life, when I got out of the hobby late 20023 I decided to try woodworking and it has taken off to the point I have taken over my whole garage.

I’m no where near as good as some of you but it’s something I really enjoy and I have been getting better and better

I have made stuff from crosses, wooden flags, planters, raised garden beds, address signs , coffee tables. I’m working on a stand and canopy right now and just was asked to build a hockey stick table.

I appreciate people who appreciate the hard work that goes into to making quality stuff.

Sure you can get stuff on Amazon etc but the quality is t the same and the material is sup-par.

I really like to work with reclaimed materials, as it saves me money and people like knowing that the material is staying out of landfills

Here two projects, one a Christmas gift, the other was a Flag Case for a friends father who had passed. Lighting is a little off, the flag case is maple & the wine box is curly maple.

I am going to post a request here, and hopefully some of the wood workers here can help me.
One of the main power tools in my little shop is my miter saw.
It's a old 10" Porter Cable miter saw PCXB115MS that isn't being made anymore.
Recently it died and I need to replace it.
I have a few requirements for the replacement.
1. I want it to have an accurate laser guide. I don't like the new shadow guides being used on many models these days. As far as the laser guide, I have used the aftermarket Oshlun LG-MC01 for a few years ( since the laser guide on my Porter Cable died)
What ever saw I get has to have the ability to use one of these.( long enough bold on the saw blade)
2. It has to have a spindle lock. There are still some saws that don't.
3. It has to have a good dust extraction port. Meaning 2-1/2" diameter port on the back side with the scoop behind the saw blade aimed directly in the path of the saw dust as it comes off the blade. It also needs to be able to carry the same amount of air volume in the front as it 2-1/2" port in the back.
It would be a plus if it was more of a compact size.
The Porter Cables base I had was only 18" wide.
I build a cabinet/table/station it sat in that had 60"side wings, left and right, with sliding stop blocks.
I can modify with out having to rebuild this to accommodate a 20" base.
Anything wider and I would have to make a whole new station and I don't want that project right now.
4. It has to be a standard 10" miter saw. I don't want a siding miter saw for this station.
I have a Kobalt 12" siding miter saw and it takes up too much room for this station, and doesn't function the same as what I need.

So hopefully someone out there has some good suggestions on make and models.

Sorry, I can't help....for one, too many requirements. I have a Dewalt 12 inch that came with a laser that I took off. For fine woodworking, I cut fat and then sneak up to the line. For dimensional lumber, close is good enough. My only complaint about the DeWalt is the vacuum attachment is uselessly small. Oh, one other complaint...if I have to haul it in and out of houses, it's awkwardly heavy.

I have used the Oshlun laser guide on several miter saws and love it. So the stock laser guide can be out. It does have to have a long enough mounting bolt to accomadate the thickness of the laser guide.
Since I do almost 100% of my work inside a small shop the dust extraction port is huge.
I guess I can make a new station to fit in a bigger base.
I just don't have the time at the moment. Too many orders coming in.

I'm currently using the 12" Kobalt saw, but it's just awkward.
I do have to say the new Spyder blade cuts smooth.
