I'll be getting a light for my 40G in the next couple of weeks, just in time for the A360X release. This has only been on the market for about a week now, and I can only find 1 video on YouTube that wasn't filmed at a convention. Couldn't find much here either using the Search function.

Anyone have one or more of these installed and care to provide some feedback? Do they live up to the hype?

This seems like the perfect light for my IM Nuvo Fusion 40 on paper, but I'd also like to hear if you all have other recommendations for 24" L x 20" W x 19" H with a plan to keep mostly LPS.

I have had a Beta light since MACNA on my office tank. It has impressed me quite a bit. It replaced an a160 over an old BioCube 29. I am running the light at 100% and it’s very bright but I want walk in customers to see it at full intensity. I see no reason you won’t be satisfied with a 360X in your application.

If you have any specific concerns I can try to get more direct feedback.

@madweazl has ordered an A360X and controller and will ship it to me for testing. The test aquarium (a 120 gallon) is ready and jigs are built, so testing should go quickly. I'll post some info as soon as I have the info in hand.

looking forward to your settings. I have mine up and running on my reefer 350 as of today. The spread is almost too much. I need to lower them a lot because the overspill lights up the entire room. Newer tank so running 20% intensity max and they are crazy bright. I think you could run 2 of these on a 5-6 foot tank depending on what you are keeping and placement.
This coming from a guy that used to run 3 250w MH on a 6 foot tank. I surely don’t miss the heat and needing a chiller. Nice to have a real lunar mode.

I'd be most interested to know how improved the dimming capability is. Do they dim down smoothly to complete darkness? May have to get one to see.

I just got a pair of these over my 70. Love these lights so far. They replaced a 6 bulb T5 fixture. Boy what a difference. Here's a crappy iPhone pic.

Yes, very smooth dimming with the Spectral X Controller and they do dim smoothly to complete darkness.

Ok, thanks. Is your picture above with them at lunar level, or something higher?

It was an early morning shot so very blue lol. I'll get a mid day shot tomorrow. I also figured out that you can setup different lighting programs/profiles so I was able to setup one just for taking pictures.

No, that’s cool - was just curious. Trying to decide if the X represents enough of an upgrade to be worth proactively replacing my current 360s or just reactively replace them as they fail.

Can't say if they are really an upgrade as I haven't owned the a360's. But, I will say that without the ability to add in the Violet, Red, and Green, I wouldn't care for the Tuna Blue alone.

Here's a lunar shot from right now. The setting here is Int 1 and Violet 1. Everything else is set at 0. With Int set to 0 and Violet set to 1, it's even darker.

Looks nice. I’m also keen to play around with the new colors.

Do you think one of these could supply enough light for an 80 gallon cube that's 24x24x32High? What's the estimate for how long these will last?

Oh and you would wanto to think about a cascading aquascape so that the corals up top don’t end up shading the corals below. Just a thought.

No way to know useful life. I’ve six of the 360W models and had two now fail between 2 and 3 years; though partly my fault as I don’t clean them as often as I should. Hopefully the redesigned heat sinks in these 369x means they’ll last a bit longer. The actual LED may last 50,000 hours, but the supprt electronics certainly don’t.
