Wondering about these for my 120g.

Are these meant to be kept single, pair, or triples? Ive read all sorts of stuff. Wondering what the verdict is? Dont want to get 3 and end up with 1 in 6 months or less.

They will pair, but okay to keep them in whatever number. I kept three in a group several years ago and two paired off, but they were okay to live with the third. I have six now and they have paired but they all intermingle. I think they are cool fish, definitely something different and they get a lot of comments. Cool to see the social dynamic when keeping a group as well. Sometimes they hang together and sometimes apart. They spend some time out swimming and some time under the rocks as well. With 6 of them and all paired off, one of them is likely guarding eggs at any given point so it’s rare to actually see all 6 swimming around.

Agreed. I've kept them singly, in pairs, and in groups. They will pr off but are still social with each other and not aggressive. They are an excellent dither fish, whose activity will help fish that are reclusive become bolder.

I have two. They are social and hang out with all my other small fish.

I like them a lot.

Would you say 2 is better then 3? Gotta buy them in pairs?

Do these switch genders like clown fish? I wonder how you make sure to get 1 male 1 female if not.

It doesn't matter whether you get 2 or 3.

You do not have to buy them in prs.

I don't think it's known whether they change gender. I don't think there is obvious sexual dimorphism.

had a group of 7 that was awesome. great fun watching them interact and the males flashing the females. need to keep them well fed or they just waste away.
