I got called an animal abuser on Reddit because I didn't realize that taking a fish from LFS salinity .016 to .025 is a multi day affair not an hour. So he died and I pretty much tortured him and I feel horrible

I won't buy out of tanks that run low salinty. It can suppress disease that becomes active when fish are acclimated to normal salinty. I introduced velvet several years ago adding s fish that was housed in 1.015 salinty.
Sorry about losing the fish. It sucks and a life was lost but all you can do is learn from it and maybe say a prayer to the fish gods asking for forgiveness 🙃 It's not like you did it intentionally.

Yeah that's absurd. Don't take comments like that to heart. We have all lost fish; I put a Coral Beauty to sleep yesterday because of problems. It's hard, but all we can do is try harder and do better next time.

The interwebs can be a brutal place. Especially on Reddit. A loss of life is never easy or what any of us intend. Although it does happen. Learn from it and remember that R2R is the best community for the salty friends. Anywhere else is sub

I eat fish almost every day that suffocated on the deck of a ship or on a fish hook so it wouldn't bother me.

We all learn, not always with success.

I had a tank move last year that i purchased rock and a bunch of fish. We had one of the anthias hide in a rock so we took the rock out with the fish in it. The rock was a two person job, probably 70 lbs. unfortunately between the time we took it out of the tote of water and got it into the tank, the anthia jumped and ended up under a foot. Didnt notice until after we had placed the rock.

I still feel bad :(

Yes and it’s the worst feeling!

But it teaches you to be more careful next time.

Sorry it happened but don’t beat yourself up, you obviously care and that’s what matters.
