I picked up a Seneye and thought I could run it on an old windows xp mini laptop I have. I’m getting a Microsoft net error when trying to install. The box says it will run on xp, but the website download site no longer lists xp. Did they change the software so xp no longer works? I’m trying to put windows 7 pro on the mini but haven’t gotten a usb iso created yet. Before I do that thought it best to check if there’s a way to get this running on xp

Probably because XP was unsupported a couple years back. The software may not install, as it won't recognize the OS(unsupported operating system).

I would at least get 7 installed and see if you get it working. Even if you do somehow get it to work on XP, any updates later to the Seneye will break it again probably.

XP Is so far from support these days that even Windows 7 is no longer supported.

Still though, I'd try installing the newest .net framework for XP and give it a shot. As I recall XP used to support 4.

For security reasons though I'd ensure this laptop is not on the internet any longer than it needs to be to update .net if you are going to have a OS that is so far out of date. You will be fine if you keep it off the network, but it is venerable to many exploits now and that is not being fixed, and will not be fixed.

Thank you,
Whiskey

I have a license for Windows 7 Pro that isn't being used but it's an OEM version so I need to download something like Rufus to make a bootable USB ISO of 7 Pro and then try installing it. I knew Seneye would be a bit annoying with the PC requirement, but since the box specifies it works with XP, I was excited that I could use this old laptop I had lying around. So that's annoying...the laptop that had the 7 Pro on it went through a building collapse and no longer works LOL.

Since you have key, just input it in here, then make a USB drive from the download. Pretty simple now that M$ does the legwork(no extra software needed), as long as you have a key of course.

That link doesn’t work when it’s an OEM product key (from Dell). It only works for retail versions.
