anyone using HID lamps over their tanks?

I saw this come up a few times when I was frequenting "the other site" but it seemed like it was one person with the setup and it was still in the testing phase where the lights were built but long-term testing was needed to prove viability of the system. After that I didn't hear much more about it.

This is kinda along the same lines as the plasma lighting. It was supposed to be the next best thing, but I don't see much talk about it around here. Maybe it did work for the larger public aquariums that don't frequent forums, but on a hobbiest level it hasn't taken off yet.
 
i have used plasma over my tank, and i absolutely loved the look of it. but theyre big bulky fixtures... im still hoping plasma takes off.
