Anyone using the Tunze 9004 Doc DC Skimmer on the Nuvo 40?

The only chambers the skimmer will fit is the over flow chambers so installing would mean I would lose one where I would want a media caddy. I was thinking about going with IM mid size Nuvoskim DC skimmer in the 2nd chamber since its working very well on my nuvo 20.

While cleaning the skimmer and my used tank, I had the Tunze running and it was pulling some crazy skim and I really like the ability to control the air via the controller on the Tunze . Should I just run it in the 1st chamber like the previous tank ? It’s a really good skimmer!

Yeah this is why I went with the 9001 and it's doing pretty well, I have 5 fish in the tank (2 clowns, 6 lines, midas, yellow clown goby) with no issue for a year now. I was able to fit it in the middle chamber and keep both the media caddies that way.

So yeah, I want media caddy>refugium 2nd chamber on one end
and media caddy>Skimmer in the other end.

Would hate to lose a mechanical filtration access but this skimmer seems worth it as it is a complete beast!

I went with the Tunze 9001, in 1st chamber. Really glad I got the 9001. Plug and play, quiet, no micro bubbles. Performs well, fits perfectly.

Looks like I'm not the only one, honestly the 9001 is more than enough unless you're planning some very high bioload. Also @Tahoe61 you can fit it right above the return pump and it works like a charm, if you ever wanted to add something in the 1st chamber

Will I figure if I have to sell the 9004 , I would just get the Nuvoskim and have the chamber back in use for a caddy.
