Apex and Free DNS host

I got mine through freedns.afraid.org

Yup happened to me last week. I paid them 20.00 and they set it back up for me again.

Hmm - I've been using DynDns for a couple years without incident (only 1 host) I guess I better keep an eye on it.

I've been thinking about getting some InfoBlox DNS appliances that we ended up not using at work and let everyone use it on here. It would be free DNS service to everyone on here and I could buy a domain that everyone could use.

I'll email the guys now and make sure they send me the appliance before throwing them away. From what I was told they are brand new but never ended up using them. I think they had like 8 of them from one of the data centers that we shut down.

Bingo...have some InfoBlox appliances on the way. Anybody have any good ideas on what a good domain we could use for this?

Re: dyndns, seems that you can still create a free domain if you make an account (or log into your account) - but no handy links off the main page. :/

If you do the free trial for pro and cancel it within 30 days, they give you one host name for free as a thanks for trying it out. That is what I did. Signed up and cancelled right away.
