just picked up a Apex Classic system, came with several modules, temp probe, ph probe, conductivity probe and module, and also ORP probe, and 2 EB8 power bars. My question is, how can I test that everything works without having to connect to Ethernet line and internet? can I just plug everything in, including the display screen module to see system functions?

Yes, technically you can ,but you'd be better served to use the app so you can really see what you have.
You can also reset/remove old programming via the app as well.
I would however take minute to see how things are programmed within the app.
You can also take the "tour" tutorial within the app to make sure you understand how everything works.
I would venture an educated guess things like the pH and ORP probes need at a minimum recalibrating if not replacement.
There is also an active forum where you can get lots of answers and programming tips and tricks

yeah, I see that now...the included "display" is nice BUT is horrible to try and configure, or calibrate anything with. I assume since these older classics aren't "Wifi" I can just plug an ethernet cord into either my router, or directly to my computer and be able to access it via Fusion??

Yes to all of the above.
My old classic was indeed connected via Ethernet to my home network which was on WiFi..
In some ways i liked the Classic better, but in reality, the app is basically the same. Using the app is sooooo much easier than using the display for anything other than just a quick glance for the very basic parameters.

is there any wireless "repeater" of some sort that would plug into the back of the Apex Class Ethernet port, and I could connect it to my home Wifi that way?

Depends on your home network.
I plugged mine directly to a switch connected to my wifi router.
