Apex energy bar?

Is it dangerous to plug the apex energy bar to an extension cord? My adaptive reef cabinet is on the other side of the rank.

Because i was always been advised not to use an extension for an extension like the energy bar they have like specific load and etc

As long as you use a properly sized extension cord, you will be okay. If you have a 15 amp outlet, and run a lot of equipment that doesn't exceed the 15 amps, a 12 gauge extension cord will work.

Lots of people have there eb832 plugged into a UPS then into the wall. No different than an extension cord. Just use a big one like maybe an outdoor rated one.

It can be if you use an extension cord inadequate for the task, which I believe would be 120V/15A. The input requirements should be labeled on the power bar or in the documentation.

Most heavy duty extension cords would be fine.

It should be fine. I’d use one that has just one outlet and only as long as you need it. Look for a cord that’s rated for 15A or so since the EB 832 has a 15A breaker

My outlet is 20 amp though? Does it have be 15amp? Or it can be 20 amp for the extension cord?

20A is fine. Sorry I was trying to avoid having you go super heavy duty and get something way more than what you need

20 amp is fine.

You don't want 20 amps of power on a15 amp circuit.
But, 15 amps of power on a 20 amp circuit is fine.
Think of the cord as a stream. You don't want to push more power than what it's rated for, or, like a stream, you will have a flood. That will be bad.

Im actually confused about that. I cant find a regular plug thats normally shaped at 20amp. My outlet is a 20 amp. So basically lets say i get a 15amp extension cord. And i plug stuff to my neptune. Like UV, Light,return pump? If that exceed 15amp it would trip? Or theres only specific things i need to plug in it?

All of my Apex bars have always been plugged into a Tripp Lite surge protector. The Tripp Lite that has individual switches for each socket

Im just confused by something. So the apex energy bar itself is limited to 15amp? So basically it doesnt matter if your outlet circuit is 20 amp. Once u exceed 15 amp on the apex energy bar itself it will trip?

Add up the amps on everything you are plugging in. What does it add up to?

Look, cords are rated for the lenght and size wire they use. If you use a 15 amp cord and try to put 20 amp through it, it's not going to end well. The cord will get hot and possible melt if it is on a 20 amp circuit.
All I was trying to say is, a bigger cord is better than a smaller one of your getting close to the rated amps of everything you plug in.

Many like the cheap 16 ga orange ext cords. Not good. Use a good 12ga (usually yellow), and you’ll be fine.
