Aptaisia forest in overflow

I have a 75 gallon mixed reef. The tank is a basic aqueon reef ready tank with the interior overflow. I was being overrun with aptaisia in the display but it seems my Aptaisis Eating Filefish is doing his job. My overflow, on the other hand, is a forest of Aptaisia. I can't use berghia or peppermint shrimp in the display because of my Yellow Candy Hogfish. How do I rid the overflow of this forest? I have pulled the pipes out of the overflow and scrubbed them but the forest comes back in no time. Would covering the overflow kill the Aptaisia?

Just remember they’ll probably keep coming back as one cell can eventually create a new forest. I’d say just get used to it. If they’re being controlled effectively in the display that would be enough for me. I mean you could try throwing in a bunch of peppermint shrimp back there to help cull them. And no covering the overflow definitely won’t kill them

I have had a forest in my tank . My solution was a CBB. Back AIO chamber I just left alone.

I was going to get a CBB but I wanted to keep all my feather dusters. I have some almost the size of a quarter. The filefish has munched on my Duncan's but isn't fast enough for the feather dusters.

I had aiptasia in my display and got a CBB which I had for many, many years. CBB took care of the display and never saw an aiptasia in the display for all that time, but my overflow still had them. I wouldn’t worry about them in the overflow.
