Aqua media DC Runner controllable pump

Does anyone have any experience with the Aqua media DC Runner controllable pump?

I'm upgrading to a 100 gallon tank with a 30 gallon sump and I'm think of getting a couple of the 5.0 versions of this pump. I'll have 2 return lines and was thinking of getting 2 of these, one for each return line. I realize that's overkill, but I like the idea of having more pump than I need and also 2 return pumps in case of a pump failure.

Any info/advice that anyone may have is greatly appreciated.

Its the same as all the other DC pumps. Except for the high end ones eg Royal Exclusiv and Venotec

Some have reported issues of rust , seal issues , incorrect internal parts that caused rusting .
Posts of pumps running a little too warm for comfort . I don't see an issue with a DC powered skimmer since most clean and inspect them every 3 to 4 months . A return pump is a different story . Most mait is once a year . For peace of mind I would look at Eheim reg, compact , Sicce Tunze return pumps .

Well said. For return pump no. Not proven enough, skimmer maybe. The older units were a disaster, the 2nd gens are better but still fairly early to say.

Hmmmmmmm.......
Maybe a Tunze DC circulation pump?
It doesn't have the gph flow that I wanted, but with 2 of them should it be enough?
