Hello everyone,

My name is Jonathan, 29 years old and I live in Belgium.

I am in the hobby 8 years now. I had a saltwater aquarium for more then 6 years but after I lost the battle against Dinoflagellates I decided to stop with the hobby.
After a while I decided to start with a 10 gallon aquascape tank, the goal was to grow a full carpet of Hemianthus Callitrichoides (HC cuba), after almost a year the aquascape became a beauty but for me the challenge wasn't there anymore cause this was pretty 'easy' to achieve.

At this time it was 1 year that I quited with my salwater aquarium, I really start to miss it so recently I broke down the aquascape tank and I decided to start a saltwater aquarium again!
I ordered myself a new light, the Aqua Knight V2 36w, I read alot of good reviews about this light so I decided to give it shot.

I will give frequent updates on my tank here.

Currently I am only in week 2 of the cyclin period.
I'm dosing Aquaforest BioS and Aquaforest Pro BioS on a daily basis.

As for the livestock I'm thinking of a couple of snowflake clownfish, a Gobiodon Okinawae and a Koumansetta Rainfordi.

I'm very curieus if I could keep the nutrients of this tank on a minimum cause i'm not using a skimmer..

I hope you enjoy the content!

Looks nice! The rock will help keep things stable and give you lots of spots to attach corals. The optimal nutrients levels will depend on what type of corals you are trying to keep.

Happy reefing! Look forward to seeing updates :)

Yeah I think I have enough rock to work with. Really curious how things will develop without a skimmer tho.. Relying on some filtersocks in the canisterfilter..

Minor update:

We are in week 2 of the cycle so I did some water testing

Ammonia: 0.1
Nitrite: 5
Nitrate: 20
Salinity: 1.026 / 35ppt
Calcium: 450
Magnesium: 1300
KH: 8.1

Our nitrite is very high atm, so I assume we are in the middle of the nitrite spike.
I'll test the water again in a couple of days to keep track of the nitrites.

We also have some brown algae popping up wich is normal in a fresh startup.
I also had the chance to pick up a very cheap AI Prime HD light, so I replaced the Aqua Knight V2.

Week 3

I tested NO3 and PO4

NO3: 5
PO4: 0.6!!!??
My Hannah ULR checker gave me the MAX 200 PPB reading..

I think my stone if buffered with PO4...
I added some rowaphos inside the canister filter, will do another test in a couple of days to check if the phosphate is still this high.

Btw, my 3th video on my youtube channel is live! Go check it out if you're interested!

Another update!

I did some water testing again:

Ammonia: 0
Nitrite: 0
NO3: 5
PO4: 0.27
Calcium: 430
KH: 8.1 dkh
Magnesium: 1260

The rowaphos is doing its thing, i'm slowly reducing the phosphate levels in the aquarium.
I also have an diatom bloom so I introducted a clean up crew, a hermit crab and some snails.

I uploaded the 4th video on my youtube channel aswell! Make sure to check it out!

I'll update this post with some photo's aswell in the upcoming days

See ya later!
