I was looking at salts today and saw that the AquaForest salts are discontinued on your site. Why did y'all quit carrying them? Thanks.

Synthetic marine salt for aquariums with fish and less delicate corals and invertebrates. When setting up new aquariums it is recommended that the first animals are placed no sooner than 10-14 days after filling the aquarium. After dissolving the salt, freshly prepared marine water can be used immediately.
Instructions for use:
Dissolve the salt in previously prepared demineralised water. Water temperature should be about 24°C (75°F). For salinity of 30 ppt dissolve about 345 g (12.16 oz)/10 l (2.7 US gal) of water. Stir the solution vigorously for about 15 min. When the salt is fully dissolved and the solution clear the saline water is ready to use. Keep the salt in a dry and dark place. Once dissolved, use the salt within 5 days. Keep out of reach of children. Product for aquarium use only. Not suitable for human consumption. Safety data sheet available on request.

Aquaforest products are manufactured in the EU under strict laboratory supervision to meet the highest quality standards. Each product is prepared from carefully selected raw components in quantities proven to yield consistent compositi on.
How is our Marine Salt product range tested?
We mix our Marine Salt in 1 metric tonne (2204lb) batches, and 3 separate samples per batch are collected during the production stage for testi ng. Each of these samples is dissolved in 15 litres (4US gal) of RO water. Our experienced team of professionals perform ICP-OES analysis to verify that the chemical compositi on is within consistent range, and to rule out the presence of unwanted contaminants at the same ti me. Note: Even though our salt is thoroughly mixed, not every bucket/box will be identi cal. The parameters can vary slightly between containers and around a 2-3% variation is acceptable. This fl uctuati on is a result of both physical properties of the mix and the limitati ons of the processing techniques available. These variations are still smaller than the typical margin for error for popular hobbyist test kits.

Recommended salinity for different aquarium types:

Macro and micro elements in the water have different levels depending on the salinity:

GO PURPLE, GO GREEN!
We simply love the oceans, that’s why our buckets are made with 20% of ocean-recovered plastic! Instead of producing more plastic waste, we decided to make world a better place and use materials, that are collected straight from the ocean!

To make the packaging safe we used:
  • safe dyes & enamels
  • fully recyclable plastic (20% of which comes from the ocean waste)
Gradually, we’ll work on using more ocean waste materials for our packaging. We’ve also reduced the amount of plastic produced by replacing old-fashioned packaging with bags dedicated for reefing products. These new bags allowed us to reduce plastic introduced into the environment by 85%! We still search for natural solutions, new suppliers and packaging ways, that help us all to clean the oceans. Please, remember, that you don’t have to throw away the buckets, you can always:
  • use Aquaforest refill bags
  • use it for storage, cleaning, tank maintenance
If you don’t need the used bucket, please recycle!

I bought the box of probiotic salt. It made my parameters way wonky. I didn’t use it for about a year but started mixing it with Red Sea blue bucket to make it useable. My Mg and Ca were way high. I’d never but it again.

Short answer is that it just didn't sell very quickly. Since salt takes up a ton of room in our warehouse, we decided to stop carrying their salt mix and to use that shelf space for other aquarium gear instead.
