Well things seem to be going well, everything looking happy, the pearlberry acro polyps are now bright green and its colouring up lovely. Also added a new Zoa frag "Strawberry wine"

A lot has changed, mostly coral stock as I lost a lot due to trying to run before I could walk with SPS. Tank is now nicely stable and running well.

Have new lights also, Euroquatics A1P - very nice!

Ok, done an update, things have changed a lot, had a re-scape, changed to kalkwasser, replaced some corals that weren't doing so well, heres some more pictures!:

Yep, a few that worked for me:

1: Stable parameters, I switched from ATI essentials Pro to Kalkwasser as my usage is low, therefore I was only dosing a single time throughout the day, not the most stable - switching to kalk allows me to dose once every two hours, much more stable.

2: Auto top up - essential again for stability.

3: Enough light, but not TOO much (can judge this by the corals reaction)

4: Run a fairly low phos - mine is at 0.024 consistently, with Nitrates of 5ppm

5: STOP MESSING WITH THE TANK - I constantly had my hands in, was changing / adjusting the powerheads, rockscape - once I stopped playing with things, it got better

So, everything going nicely, my red planet has started to colour up and go green in some areas:

However keeping this coral has made me realise that I get an awfull lot of shadowing, which is a bit rubbish, so, I bought this:

And in the spirit of good DIY im going to rip it to pieces and create my own LED / T5HO hybrid light - shouldn't take too long id imagine and just need to be wary of the extra PAR i'll be adding - need to do some measurements as the last thing I want now everything is happy is to bleach everything!.
