How concerned should I be? I have a 20 gallon aio Red Sea max nano. It’s unlevel, the front panel is taking all the extra weight. I’m concerned seeing as it’s rimless and Red Sea are known to have bad seals. Only thing is there are no leveling feet built into the stand. Do you guys think level isn’t as important with such a small 20 gallon tank?

According to chatgpt 1 degree off on a 18 inch 20 gallon aquarium is 1/8 of an inch off level. So it said 1.8 lbs of extra pressure on the front panel. Considering the total volume of water weighs 166lbs. I’m hoping it should be fine?

If at all possible you should level it, but the physics of water is that at a certain depth, water exerts a certain pressure in all directions. This means that functionally speaking, if your tank was tilted at 45 degrees, the side that was now "downward facing" wouldn't be feeling any more pressure than if it were vertical. In fact that panel would feel less pressure because the tank would not be able to hold as much water.

The water at a given depth is pushing outward in all directions, it is not pushing downwards.

Getting a tank perfectly level is one of those things in this hobby that is extremely over thought. I don't know when this became such an issue but it definitely persists. I'm not saying it's not something to disregard but getting it perfect is not really necessary.

for me atleast, if the tank isnt level that tells me your floor is out of level. If you have a low spot, your stand is possibly twisting, and the pressure on the bottom of the tank may be uneven.

If it were mine, i would drain it down to a few inches of water and get it dead nuts level on the stand, not just the tank. long term twisting of the tank caused by an uneven stand might even be contributing to the redsea failures since the bottom glass doesnt sit under the sides, giving a tearing stressor force.
