Aquarium stand question

Setting up a used aquarium and noticed the stand settled a little bit. On the right side I can see an air gap between the tank and stand.
Should I put a leveling mat or thin wood sheet in between tank and stand?

My google search said the tanks with trim around top & bottom don’t need anything additional but wanted 2nd options. Thanks all!

A tank with plastic trim on the bottom should not have a mat under the tank.

Is the stand stable to support the tank with water in it? Does it have any movement? If no, I would place a board on top of the stand(with a shim where there is a gap).

Check both the tank and stand with a long straight edge. It may be the stand has a high spot in the center that needs planing down.

Woodworker here. Looks like some good wood swelling has happened at some point. You definitely have a high spot somewhere to the left of the gap. Put a piece of confirmed flat plywood on top and check with a level. You should be able to sand it down much closer to level. You don't need to have it "machined quality level for a rimmed tank but I would defiantly try to level it better before setting it up semi permanently. SHould be a simple fix if you are patient and take your time.
