So I went to my friend's lfs yesterday, andbhe rooked me into taking this guy home, "he'll look really good in your new display refugium", and he does. He was listed as an assorted angler, he was white in the bag with various eyespots. He's been in just overnight and he's getting this green color, he's already hunted down at least one molly that i saw, another one missing but I didn't see him eat it. I'm thinking it's an antennatus nummifer.

Coral crouchers are actually a scorpionfish. This a completely different species, although their care is similar. A wartskin angler would work in a 20g, but anglers are not for everyone. If this ends up being the species I think it is, he will stay small as well. He's in a 40B.

Seems like one of his favorite spots already, I,m finding him cruising alot. His fishing rod is so small it's kind of funny, but he's not shy about using it. That's another attribute that makes me think it's a nummifer.

Using his little lure, it's so short it's funny, but he's a dang good hunter.

He passed after a couple of months. He was doing good then had a seizure right in front of me. He seized and turned black and died. I have never seen anything like that, the only thing I can can think of is some type of poisoning. Since he was in a tank in the same system as a dozen other fish, it must have happened before I got him.

I had a friend who tried keeping them years ago, he never made it past a few months.
A study really needs to be made to help keep these guys.
I've kept them for over 3 years which is still not good. I had vowed not to keep them anymore but knowing how quickly they die with most, my friend kind of rooked me into it. I have shared some info on keeping them if 3 years is ok in terms of captive lifespan. I don't personally know anyone else that have kept one for even a year. I have learn more on keeping them since my last one. This one had been poisoned and care had nothing to do with it, it was a fluke.
