Can I use optical level sensors in my display tank (having decent surface agitation)? Do I need to isolate the optical sensors from the surface roil somehow? If so, how have you done this or seen it done? I do not have a sump and am looking for installation options.

While they "might" be slightly less accurate, I have used optical sensors in that environment without any issues.
Okay, great! I guess my first installation attempt will be to direct-install on the DT glass, then worry about other mounting options if that doesn't work out for some reason in my tank.
Can you give me some idea, in terms of water level depth variation, the inaccuracy you are speaking of?

I personally didn't notice any inaccuracies but I never ran any experiments to see if there was a difference with and without surface turbulence. Knowing the science behind how they work, I figured there might be some loss in accuracy...but again, mine worked fine with no issues. You can fortunately adjust the height of the sensor as needed 🙂

Thank you!
