So I've been using a plain $2 blue 5 gallon Lowe's bucket as a reservoir for my ATO. However, I've noticed a bunch of people comment that ATO reservoirs need to be food safe. Does anyone know if the cheap blue 5 gallon buckets from Lowe's are food safe?

You will be fine.....if you are looking for something nicer looking though, pick up a dog food storage bin from any petstore. They come in many different sizes with lids.

+ the dog food container is clear so that you can see the water lvl. Walmart has white 5 gallon ones that are definitively food grade.

Check the bottom of the bucket for the recycling symbol. There is a numeric code there. I believe the Lowe's buckets are a 2, which is food grade. At least the 5 gallon bucket I have is.
