Honestly not really too sure. They are both fairly close to each other in the tank and get around 400 PAR, and fairly decent flow. I do run my nutrient levels higher now, but they haven't seemed phased when they were lower. Color has increased though.
Thank you! I tried one a year ago, thought they preferred higher par and put it right at 400 par. Roasted it... It was a white skeleton the next day. That's good to know yours are both happy there so I'll have to try again but maybe acclimate it to higher lighting slowly.

Spathata is my altime favorite, im still missing two for my collection and that's the red/pink tip and the blue tip. Anyone have them for trade let me know. These are some i have growing from wild frag. Been in my tank for over 1.5 years now.

Adam, did you end up selling both of the spaths? If not how are they doing for you?

Hi there

I sold the small one and split the red one.

Still looking great here. Definitely keeping this half

I guess we should all learn from you, since you have both of the hard two keep acros growing side by side. [emoji108][emoji106]

Wow! Any insight into your success with them? From acclimation to tank conditions?

My tank is fairly simple, you can find out on my build thread. My aclimation process is like everyone else, matching temp and drip for 30min before set in the tank. All my spathulata receiving high par tho mostly in the 600+ par

I noticed one thing about the spath in my collection is that when i frag them the frag will brown out really fast and take a while to color up. Become really hardy and fast grower once adjusted to the system.

I've asked a few collectors about these a while back... All of them said "High light, average flow" which to me means "crazy light, and high flow..." lol I think stable KH is a huge issue with these corals as well. Ive had every color under the sun, some keep it and some dont... same conditions.. lol who knows :/

I have my first Spath frag, it lost its color while I had it on the sand bed for the first months. It is now directly under my AP700 with two added T5s, receiving at least 500 PAR and could be 600+. Has encrusted very well, good PE and I can see that the color has begun to come in.

Not much of a shower right now. If it's color comes back like when I bought it, I'll call it The World Ender and you'll know why when you see it. Here's too hoping.

Someone has suggested to me I have a spathulata. I thought it was a millipora. I don't know?

this is it. I've had it 5 weeks.

Need a good close up of the coralites/tips. It certainly looks like it could be one.
