I've a Red Sea Max Nano GL 53 gal tank. It's been up and running for 5 months with fish, LPS, SPS and softies and everything is thriving. I'd appreciate opinions on the best options out there. I see 2 dosing head and 4 dosing head setups.

What do you plan on dosing? If you're dosing All-For-Reef, that's affectionally known as a "one-part" solution, and you would need just one dosing head. Many use two or three part dosing solutions, and would need two or three heads. Others are adding other things like carbon dosing or trace elements and may need even more dosing heads (some additives can be mixed and dosed from one solution, but not all of them can be mixed).

I'm pretty sure Red Sea makes dosing pumps that are popular with the Red Sea owners. Kamoer is also a popular budget option.

As mentioned what you plan to dose will determine if you need a single head, 2 or 4.
I dosed AFR manually for close to a year.
I've had good luck with kamoer single head dosers. My RS reefdose 2 has been rock solid and I love the app. That's all I have experience with.

Unfortunately, the reviews on the Red Sea dosers aren't the best. Budget cost isn't important to me unless it's the best of best.

How long have you had the RS reefdose? The Red Sea line is great but I read some not so favorable reviews about their reefdosers.

If you run a controller the Neptune DOS is a good option. I enjoy controlling and changing output in the app. It's only got 2 heads though.

I also use Jebao auto dosers as well. 4 heads for $70 or so, hard to beat that price.

My reefdose has been running about 2 years and has never had a hiccup. I started it dosing two part then switched to AFR using a single head. I now have both heads running, one dosing AFR to my SPS tank and the other head dosing phyto every hour 24/7 on my NPS tank.

I'm not a redsea fan boy 😉

Man honestly, if you have a small tank and its thriving with simply water changes.. i would not get into dosing.
It will do south if you're "heavy handed".

Its all about stability as we all know in this hobby.

sorry not to be negative about it, just from my experience

I have 7 gallons of water in my tank and use a 4 head doser made by Chihiros. Sweet and easy app. and I would not have a tank without a doser. At this time I does some nitrates and Baking soda for my KH.
