Auto top off question

I have an AIO tank with duel chamber center overflows and duel return pumps, one on each end of the tank.

The tank said to place the ATO in the chamber that drains fastest.

My issue is that changes for some reason. One week the left drains fastest and a couple weeks later the right chamber is almost dry.

My question is can I run dual ATOs? One on each pump chamber? I would place one lower below the normal water line to serve as a backup fill.

My logic is that it can't overfill because neither ATO would sit high to overflow the tank. Both would have the dual safety shut offs for high and low water. I spend a few weeks away from the tank throughout the year and would like it to be totally automated for the person checking and feeding the tank.

What AIO do you have? Once we know the model, we should be able to tell you which chamber to put the sensor in.

I have 2 of these and my tank is a tideline 62g AIO

You can run the sensor in one or the other pump chamber. I do not see a reason to use 2. If you want more time why not simply use a larger top-off container? If you want redundancy, I would add a controller with an overflow sensor. I see no benefit to having 2 ATOs.

The top off reservoir is unlimited filled with float switch to rodi system. It's the issue that each pump chamber changes which drains faster.

You have other problems somewhere (2 different return rates prob?) Your return chambers should not fluctuate like that, but i am not versed in AIO models so I’ll leave it to someone else who knows more about it than i do lol.

I have the Tideline 62g, and I love the tank. FYI, do not fear the conversations about one side return being faster than the other. The solution is to have the ATO height 1/2 inch higher than the 'final chamber' overflow baffle. That is the lower baffle, in the return chamber. If you do this, both sides will always be equal...no issues. I think the confusion is that people think you have to have the 1/2 inch above the highest baffle, which would be problematic. Read the instructions carefully, it is 1/2 inch above the 'final return' baffle. This tank is solid, beautiful, and the returns are so quiet. Using a Tunze ato, on one side, no issues whatsoever.
