Auto top off & wavemaker in display?

Just wondering if there's more of you that have only a display no sump and use both an autotop off and a wavemaker and what your thoughts on it are? I just got the tunze nano auto top off and a jebao wp10 and I heard the tunze clicking on and off with each wave, no no water was getting up to the display yet cause it clicks on and clicks off with each wave. I really like the wave movement but now I can't use my top off if I do!! Poopy!

Put a overflow cover around the top off relay, so that its water level is always stable.
