I have a Avast Calcium Reactor. The reactor is fead with a small pump and effluent is controlled via a drip emitter. I am wanting to add a Kamoer FX STP and ditch the drip emitter to have better control of the effluent. I would set it up to pull from the reactor. If I set it this way do I then ditch the small feed pump or do I keep the feed pump which will keep the pressure in the reactor?

Pressure is unnecessary. Ditch the feed pump and any needle valves for restriction. Only need the STP and pump that circulates the water/co2 inside the reactor.

Should I place the STP to push the water in or pull through the reactor?

I ran my CaRx in the sump as thats where it fit. This meant that it didn't matter. The theory on pulling is if the CaRx loses access to source water, like a hose pops off or something, it can only feed air, this reducing leaks to at or near zero. When pushing, if a hose pops off, leaks will occur at the rate the doser feeds.

I tried pulling initially and found it do have some issues with consistency purging air, but I was dosing at a very low rate, 2ml/minute (Granted I only ran it this way for a week or so before switching to push). Others who have pulled seem to love it, but they were higher. This is really a personal preference.
