I have read they reach settlement around 5-6 weeks

Yes - but it seems to be dependant on the environmental cues the babies receive. I've heard that different shrimp require different cues, but that most seem to revolve around little chunks of live rock to sort of fake them into thinking they are on a good spot of the reef to settle out on. Without the right cue, they can stay as larva for a lot longer than expected. Are you stocking up on Asterina stars?

Thank you sir I did not know that but will look into that. Yes I have a reliable source of asterina about 30 mins away and currently have six chocolate chip starfish on hand

In the 1980s they were super expensive, if you can buy a pair of them they were like $500 for a pair. That was paying like a mortgage payment at the time

I remember the first time I saw one. I said what is that? So amazing I think I looked at it for 15min. Went home and read up on them. Decided I wanted one but it sold. Found some more and bought two. Not knowing i later found out I had two males. Then started looking for two females since I thought they should have a girlfriend to hunt with. Now I have two pair. My favorite invert in the tank. And now one pair is actively breeding and now I have babies and well here we are today

Can I have some? I don't have any on my tank, and my daughter want to see starfish in the tank, and since I think keeping starfish requires a lot of work, an infestation of asterinas will do the work.
