Hello again! I’m a month or so into my new tank build.

A little back story:
I started with a 55 gallon salt water tank back in 2008. Sometime around 2014 I went up to a 75. In January of 2020 that 75 started leaking so I ran out and bought a new 75 to quickly transfer the contents over. I told my wife for years I wanted a larger tank but she said (and was correct) that we didn’t have space in that house to really put it unless it was upstairs and then it would be neglected. In October of 2020 we sold our house and lived in an apartment for a year and then our 5th wheel for 6 months - sold the reef tank and cried a little…! During that transition time my wife said I need a bigger tank once we get in the new house (woohoo!!).

We moved into our new house in early May. We talked about the cost of the bigger tank and decided it would still be about a year before we invested that time/money into it.
Much to my surprise - on one of my days off in early June my wife told me I needed to wait around the house for a delivery. A couple hours later a freight truck pulled up and delivered the new tank she bought me!!!!

A brand new Waterbox Reef DX 220.6!!! 167 gallon display. She also ordered 3 Radion XR 30s!

Since then I have purchased various other pieces of equipment and got it up and running. Two days ago we went to one of the LFSs and bought some livestock to get it up and running.

This isn’t my first rodeo with a tank - as mentioned above I’ve had one for quite a while - but technology is rapidly changing and the hobby is changing and progressing with it so I have a lot of learning and catching up to do.

Here is a list of current equipment/livestock, and some pics. I’m not much of a blogger type fella but I’ll post updates and answer any questions you may have! I’m also open to input along the way!
Have a great week!

Nice setup, and best of luck!
I'd suggest at least another MP40 for a tank that size. I run two MP40's on my 120 gallon mixed reef.
Yessir! I’m trying to decide on another MP40 or one of the Reefwave 45 Gyre pumps. Definitely plan on a second one.

Not sure why but, after 1.5-2 weeks of no issues, my MP40 started vibrating and fell off. I put it back on and it just kept vibrating off. Even when I dropped the flow rate to 1%…I was looking to buy another MP40 but I canned that idea because I can’t get this one to stay on and Ecotech Marine has not responded to my message about the issue. It says it’s good for 3/4” glass but I feel like that’s pushing the limit and it’s not really good for that? I went out and bought a Reefwave 45. I had one on my last tank and had zero issues. This one has been running for 2 days so far and I love it! I may be selling a very lightly used MP40 if anyone is interested…!
