Last week I had a interesting subject about heaters.
Well that said it's summer again in Texas :p
Might bump it again after we take down the Christmas tree or we just leave the tree and name it the season tree ;)
Ok on some point I mentioned it that it's smart to have a backup heater, well for at least 44 States where it ain't summer is anymore :(
But what else you have as a backup.............. to name a few return pump, wavemaker, chiller...........
I can fill in a whole list but why is smart in your case to have a backup on something in your case?
Must say I have a whole backup system running, in case of.......... all can go in the
Diesel backup bunker tank
Let's hear it fellow hobbyist, and remember back up girlfriends don't count:cool:

What about a back up for your power? This year I'm going to get a battery back up for my mp10s as well as a ups while still having my generator as the last resort.

Battery operated Air pump for your backup as well on your pumps.
You can move all the water but with no air the tank will still die off slowly.

We have extra tank, powerheads, heater, battery air pumps, a light that'd do for a pinch short term, plumbing parts, carbon small sump, skimmer, hob overflow box, fw and sw. Also the box of odds and ends from over the years lol. Generator almost forgot about that lol.

Well if you have enough flow to agitate the top and give the oxygen exchange and create aeration then you should be fine. I've been in these situations where my power is off for 5-8 hours and I just hook up my 2 mp10's on 75% onto my generator place them towards the top and then have no problem

I know a back up geni is great as I have a whole house one but it ain't helping if your return pump dies cause it's just old.
having a pump or skimmer pump or heater are the most common things but what if you have a full unit 8 bulb 60" light.............. you just don't back that up with a spare of the same do you................. or............. thoughts??!!??

Then find replacements on sale, or used. It my not be the same, but it is a band aid until one has time to fix it.

Auto tune the news. They would take local news videos and turn them into songs. That one was probably their most famous.

Awesome and thank you!
Now what all you have as back up now I got your attention? ;)

Nothing. I live on the wild side. Although if I had a nice tank chocked full of corals worth more than a new car, I would have more backups than Air Force One

I do have back up lights and needed them recently when my hydra 52's motherboard died. Also just acquired a pair of second hand mars aqua's and I'm running one of them until I either repair my hydra or put a sb board in the mars light.

I will say I do have some redundancy against certain things. I sized my topoff system so that even if it dumped all its water in the sump and the power went out, it would not flood. I run a bean animal drain system, so I would have to have ALLOT of pipes clog before it flooded. I run two smaller heaters and they are both on a Ranco (old school, but bullet proof), so if the controller stuck the heaters would shut off, or vice versa. Also, my wife and daughter are home most of the time, so there is usually someone in the house with the tank about 95% of the time.
