well, after struggling to catch the mantis shrimp hitchhiker in my tank and doing a bunch of reading I hoped that it would be a good citizen if I kept it fed.. seems not so much. I added a female harlequin shrimp to join my male and they weee hunting together and inseparable and after 2 days in the tank I found that something tore in in half! So sad . Of course I saw the mantis scurry into his burrow (he has at least 3). Would the mantis do this? I would have thought the mantis would have dragged it back into its cave? Not just kill it? I have 2 blood shrimp in the tank but they don’t bother the male harlequin at all.. Ugh.
