Banana Wrasse, Yellow-Brow Wrasse, Sunset Wrasse / Thalassoma lutescens

swannyson7-albums-wrasse-database-1-picture16825-banana-wrasse.jpg

SCIENTIFIC NAME - Thalassoma lutescens

COMMON NAME – Banana, Yellow-Brow, Yellow, Sunset Wrasse

SIZE – 12 in (31 cm)

MIN. AQUARIUM SIZE - 125 gal (473 L)

FOODS AND FEEDING - Should be fed a variety of high quality marine meaty foods. Will also eat other crustaceans.

REEF COMPATIBILITY - No

CAPTIVE CARE - This is an aggressive fish and should be kept with other aggressive fish. If the aquarium is larger than 125 gallons, the Banana wrasse can be kept with a mate. Adult males take on a bluish color, while females are yellow. The Banana wrasse is highly territorial and should be added last to minimize harassment of other fish. They prefer a tank with lots of rockwork with lots of hiding places. Wrasses are known jumpers so the aquarium top should be covered.

Crazy but beautiful fish. Eats clam mantle and will picks at zoas and button polyps. Has jumped completely out of the water and smacked the inside of my canopy.
