My experience with six line wrasse aggression

I have a 30gl cube, with established pair of clowns and a yellow spotted golby. Roughly a year later I added a 6 line wrasse and he bullied the golby all day long and then went after both clowns.
Just fished the 6 line wrasse out and peace has been restored, my yellow spotted golby is back to his normal self, cruising around the tank with not a worry in site. Both clownfish appear to be happy once again. I'd like a new fish in the tank, but not sure what to add? Any suggestions?

How about a blenny of some sort. The Midas blenny is awesome to watch. Or a firefish goby!

Yup,

6 line wrasses are total jerks. So are 4-lines, 8-lines, mystery wrasses, and scarlet pinstripes. Everything from the Pseudocheilinus family.

They're ok with totally different fish like gobies, blennies, tangs, etc, but with other fish with similar morphology/feeding habits like other wrasses, dottybacks, hogfish, etc. they are relentlessly aggressive. Can't be kept together.

Mine killed an orchid dottyback. I think it killed my peppermint shrimp too. Trap time

I have one in my tank and he is a model citizen! BUT, he was the last fish in the tank, and all other inhabitants are larger and vastly different in shape. The only one smaller is my YWG and he get right nasty with the six line if it gets anywhere near his cave.

Good write up. I hate my melanarus wrasse btw. As a reef guy shrimp also have a function to control aptasia or astrenia stars. I can not put any shrimp in my tank with this beautiful jerk fish

I have 3 sixlines in different tanks because I like them for pest control. They are a little fish with a big fish attitude and IMO should not be placed in small community tanks with small peaceful fish and many people fail to realize that.
One is a 330g and I rarely see it because is stays in the rocks hunting all day. I also have a possum wrasse in the tank. One is in a 65 tank with two tangs and a neon blue damsel. The other is the only fish in a 20g. I have no issues with aggression. They're just like most fish. If you provide the correct habitat for them they are a great addition.

YEP! I love my little guy! He doesn't bother anyone, and nobody bothers him. And yes, they are great at pest control.
