Hello Everyone,

Last Tuesday I picked up two Bangaii Cardnals. One eats everything that I feed it, the other, hasn't eaten anything. I've tried flakes, brine shrimp, and spirulina brine. It ignores the flakes, and is scared of both kinds of shrimp. Any ideas how I can not scare it? Other food options? Do I just need to wait longer?

I don’t claim to be an expert, but I can tell you that live tigger pods drive my two cardinals crazy.

come to think of it, all my fish go nuts on tigger pod day.

Have you tried freshly hatched brine shrimp or even full grown brine shrimp? Usually anything live will get most fish started then you can add other foods in with whatever they have started eating

Do they look like a mature/older pair? They are mouth brooders, and the male carries the eggs and doesn't eat until after the fry are free swimming. I've had a male not eat for close to thirty days. Try and get a look into the one's mouth and see if there is an egg mass present.
IF no eggs I've had great success soaking food in Selcon.

I'm not sure...

To me it doesn't look like he is carrying anything but here is a picture.

Really hard to tell sometimes ... if you catch the fish looking like it's yawning you might catch a glimpse off eggs (if present) being "juggled" in the jaw.

Judging by that picture it appears to be a male so the possibility of holding eggs is there. I have a small banggai juvenile who seems to only like live baby brine shrimp or white worms atm.

Mine did that for two weeks.
Made me nervous.
But then he just started.
Think he was cheating in the back.
May be nothing at all.
