Bangaii cardinal not eating

Hello all!

Purchased 2 bangaii cardinals a week ago, so far they have no interest in any food i feed.. Tried feeding them at night as well since i heard they were nocturnal.. This past Saturday i tried live pods and they went crazy for it but no interest in frozen food.. Any recommendations of what to feed? They're also extremely shy and hide when i feed.

Mine feeds on mysis also my bang is active at night so I’m sure it’s eating then also

I feed mine Mysis and brine and a mix with other stuff but it doesn't even budge.. i got a ton of pods so im hoping its feeding off of that but i would like it to eat some frozen during feeding

Maybe it’s getting all its food during the night only thing to do really is keep trying eventually it should eat do you have any photos? Also having two bangs never ends well

Ask the store what they fed and give them the exact same.

Wonder if they are wild caught? Shouldn't be as they are very easy to breed. Mine ate just about anything. What size is the tank? Bangaii are territorial in general and I wouldn't attempt more than one in a tank smaller than 55-75 gallons, especially if it's a male. Perhaps some fish to fish aggression is making them less interested in eating. They could also just be getting used to the tank.

Yeah, I have three and since day one, two of them paired up and shunned the third with chasing and nips.

Then I put other fish in the tank and suddenly they tolerate him a lot more. lol

Its a 75, i haven't seen any aggression towards each other or any of the other fish i have in there.. They're never together, they're usually on opposite side.. The only thing i have noticed is they're extremely shy, i can't get close to the tank, they go into hiding.. i got em cuz i heard they weren't shy fish and eat about anything but its literally the opposite right now..

Is there a difference with it being wild caught? How would i know if it is.. I shop at world of corals and i never heard of wild caught fish from them

They likely aren't. If I recall correctly, they are protected now since they are endemic to a small straight and a few other areas that they've spread to. I mentioned because sometimes wild fish won't initially eat frozen. Hopefully they are acclimating well.

They are a shy fish, tend to stick to corners. Mangrove roots are probably their happy place.
So I bought three, considering when they are small they are hard to sex. After a bit two paired up, so I put the third in another tank. They will all eat my frozen (thawed) mix. That consists of Mysis, Seaweed Delight, Marine fusion. The two in the same tank, one will also eat pellet and flake, one will not. the other in the separate tank will eat pellet. What I am getting at is they are shy finicky eaters.
